Joshua Jackson is a Canadian-American actor best known for his roles in Dawson's Creek, The Mighty Ducks film series, and the science fiction television show Fringe.
Joshua Browning Jackson was born on June 11, 1978, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. His father, John Carter, is originally from Texas, while his mother, Fiona Jackson, hails from Dublin, Ireland. He has one sister, Aisleagh, and two half-brothers, Jonathan and Lyman. Jackson spent part of his early childhood in California before returning to Vancouver with his mother and sister when he was eight years old. He attended Ideal Mini School in Vancouver and later transferred to Kitsilano Secondary School.
Jackson began acting at a young age, making his film debut in Crooked Hearts (1991). A year later, he appeared in a theatrical production of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. His breakout role came when he was cast as Charlie Conway in the Disney film franchise The Mighty Ducks, appearing in the trilogy from 1992 to 1996.
