Julia Scarlett Elizabeth Louis-Dreyfus was born on January 13, 1961, in New York City, New York. Louis-Dreyfus is the granddaughter of representative Leopold Louis-Dreyfus, who established the global Louis Dreyfus Group. Subsequent to studying drama at Northwestern University, Louis-Dreyfus started her acting career at Chicago's Practical Theater Company, and performed with the lofty Second City comedy troupe.
