John played a small role in the “Miami Vice”. Afterwards, he  appeared in numerous films like “Regarding Henry”, “Hangin' with the Homeboys”, “Super Mario Bros”, “Whispers in the Dark” and “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar”.  In the famous movie "Ice age" John is a leading voice actor and this has served to make him even more famous. He also wrote some works for the Off-Broadway productions, like “Mambo Mouth” / “Sexaholix…A Love Story”. It has been reported that John used his relationship with Justine as a basis for the story. The Broadway show was similar to John’s earlier award-winning one-man performances. Playbill said that “Leguizamo employs an ‘in your face’ comedic style, covering in Sexaholix relationships: dating, trying to 'get some', breaking up, break-up sex, make-up sex, marriage, divorce, and other topics including Latino history, childhood, family, and finally fatherhood” all items referencing his own experiences and of course, Justine’s as well.

John Leguizamo and Justine Maurer often appear together in public and it was reported that the couple “shined on the red carpet” at the Emmy Awards and were considered as one of the event’s “cutest couples”. John and Justine also visited Justine’s alma mater, Vassar, where John talked about his life and creative work during a workshop with film students. He told the students “You can take your annoying, attention-getting ways and make something useful out of them. If they can make penicillin out of moldy bread, they can make something out of you. That was my first insight, that I could turn this into something positive instead of self-destructive. I started acting, taking acting classes, and I found myself in those classes.” And, of course, he found Justine through acting as well.
