Katrina Pierson

Pierson comes from a mixed race background as she is the daughter of a white mother and a black father. Being a person with African American blood puts Pierson in a small group of Trump supporters. Most African Americans don’t support Trump because his policies and statements seem to antagonize them. The African Americans that do support Trump have to speak loudly to try to get their voices above all the negative backlash they get for their odd alliance.

Pierson grew up in extreme poverty as she was being raised by her single mom. Pierson was born when her mother was only the age of 15. Being a young parent was difficult for Pierson’s mom, she even considered giving up the baby for adoption. She still had her own life to live. She was not in a position to be raising a child. She did not have the resources or knowledge to be a good parent. The choice to send her baby to an adoption agency would be tough but she changed her mind. She couldn’t handle giving up her baby and not being a part of her life anymore. She would try her best even if she didn’t have enough money to give Pierson a quality of living that a little girl deserves.

At the age of 20, Pierson was arrested for shoplifting merchandise worth $168 from a J.C. Penney department store located in Plano, Texas. Even though Pierson can be annoying Tea Party member on television, it’s still hard to not sympathize with her for early troubles as she was growing up. She didn’t have a positive upbringing so she ran into bad situations like stealing. If she had more of positive childhood, things might have turned out different for her.

A sad thing about the shoplifting incident is Pierson had her baby son with her when she was arrested. There aren’t that many images sadder than a mom getting caught stealing while her son looks on.Pierson claimed that she had no choice and the reason for her crime was that she needed new clothes for job interviews. She wanted to better her situation for her son so she resorted to crime. In her mind, she felt that she had to change things for her family by any means necessary.

Pierson claimed that the shoplifting arrest was a huge changing point in her life. After feeling shame from the arrest, she was determined to make something of herself.  In 2006 Pierson received an Associate of Science Degree from Kilgore College. She didn’t stop there though, she had more to accomplish. She was motivated to go further and ended up with a Bachelors in Biology from the University of Texas. She may not present herself as a biology major these days but at one point in her life, there’s no question Pierson was a highly capable woman of science.
