Lauren Alaina biography

Lauren Alaina is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who was born on November 8, 1994, in Rossville, Georgia to Kristy and J.J. Suddeth. Alaina has been singing since she was three-years-old and was soon to have her first public performance. She then joined a kids choir, sang in church, restaurants, family holiday gatherings and anywhere who would hire her in her hometown of Rossville. By the age of eight, Alaina joined and won the talent competition of the Southern Stars Pageant.

She was selected the very next year to perform on the Kids talent stage at Chattanooga's Riverbend Festival. When she was twelve, Alaina began making trips to Nashville where she would be close to the music industry there and as she grew older she performed at local bars including Tootsies. In 2009, she was the first winner of the WinniSTAR youth talent contest at an amusement park in Lake Winnepesaukah. Alaina began writing her own songs which included "Leaving" and "Set Me Free". Alaina credits her cousin, Holly Witherow who diagnosed with a brain tumor, with inspiring her to sing. Alaina is best known for being runner-up on the tenth season of the talent television series "American Idol".
