Leslie Odom Jr. is an American actor and jazz singer who has become known for his portrayal of Aaron Burr in the Broadway musical Hamilton. Leslie Odom Jr. was born on August 6, 1981, in Queens, New York. Odom’s family moved the East Oak Lane section of Philadelphia and he attended Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. His family was a member of Canaan Baptist Church in Germantown and Odom sang solos in the church choir.
Odom made his Broadway debut at the age of seventeen, appearing in the musical Rent. Odom earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Upon graduating Odom moved to Los Angeles and began his acting career. Leslie Odom Jr. earned a recurring role in CSI: Miami and also appeared in NCIS: Los Angeles and Grey’s Anatomy. Odom has released two jazz albums, Leslie Odom Jr. and Simply Christmas. Odom married actress Nicolette Kloe Robinson on December 1, 2012. The couple has a daughter, Lucille Ruby, who was born on April 23, 2017. Leslie Odom Jr. won a 2016 Grammy Award for the Hamilton cast album and the Tony Award for Best Actor in A Musical for his role in Hamilton.
