Maddie Ziegler is an American actress, dancer, and model who was born on September 30, 2002, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to her parents Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni and Kurt Ziegler. From the young age of two, Ziegler began taking dance lessons and by age four she joined the Abby Lee Dance Company. She trained in tap, ballet, contemporary, jazz, and other forms of dancing. Ziegler has a younger sister named Mackenzie Ziegler who is also a dancer and singer who appeared alongside her on "Dance Moms". She also has two older half-brothers from her father's previous marriage, as well as two older step-siblings from her step-father's previous marriage. Ziegler attended Sloan Elementary School but she was eventually pulled out in 2013 in favor of homeschooling.
Ziegler lives both with her family in Murrysville, Pennsylvania and in Los Angeles where she spends part of her time for work. While Ziegler was with Abby Lee Dance Company she won several titles at regional, state and national level dance competitions. She first appeared on the Lifetime reality television series "Dance Moms" at age eight and she was a part of the show for six seasons. Both her younger sister Mackenzie and her mother Melissa joined her on the show.
