Maddie Ziegler is an American actress, dancer, and model born on September 30, 2002, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to parents Melissa Ziegler-Gisoni and Kurt Ziegler. She began taking dance lessons at age two and, by four, joined the Abby Lee Dance Company, where she trained in various styles including tap, ballet, jazz, and contemporary dance.

Ziegler has a younger sister, Mackenzie Ziegler, who is also a dancer and singer and appeared alongside her on the reality television series Dance Moms. She also has two older half-brothers from her father’s previous marriage and two older step-siblings from her stepfather’s side. Maddie initially attended Sloan Elementary School but transitioned to homeschooling in 2013 to accommodate her growing career.
