In 2016, Murray represented Team North America at the World Cup of Hockey. Although he started in goal, he suffered a hand injury in a match against Russia, which limited his participation in the tournament.
Murray experienced tremendous success during his early NHL career. That same year, he won his first Stanley Cup as the starting goaltender for the Pittsburgh Penguins. He followed up with another championship in 2017, becoming the first goaltender in NHL history to win two Stanley Cups as a rookie—his official rookie status extending into his second championship season due to league qualification rules.
Regarding his personal life, Matt Murray is married. He has generally remained private about his family life, keeping details about his wife and personal relationships out of the public eye. Known for his calm demeanor and focus, Murray continues to be recognized not only for his contributions on the ice but also for his professionalism off it.
