He voiced Jimmy Olsen in All-Star Superman, part of the DC Universe Animated Original Movies. He also portrayed The Riddler in Batman: Assault on Arkham, further demonstrating his range as a voice actor.
As a filmmaker, Gubler created the behind-the-scenes documentary Matthew Gray Gubler’s Life Aquatic Intern Journal, chronicling the making of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. This documentary was later included in the Criterion Collection release of the film. He also directed and starred in a series of self-parody mockumentaries titled Matthew Gray Gubler: The Unauthorized Documentary, humorously exploring the absurdities of Hollywood culture.
