Meagan Good was born in 1981 in California. Her mother, Tyra Wardlow-Doyle, served as her manager during her teenage years, while her father, Leondis "Leon" Good, was a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). Good comes from a diverse ethnic background. She has described her maternal grandmother as being of African and Jewish descent, identifying herself as Creole. Her paternal grandmother was of Cherokee and other Native American lineage, while her paternal grandfather’s mother was Black and Puerto Rican from Barbados.
