Education

Kirshner began her education at Forest Hill Collegiate Institute and later graduated from Jarvis Collegiate Institute. She went on to study Russian literature and 20th-century movie industry at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Early Acting Career

Mia Kirshner began acting professionally at the age of 15, though she had shown interest in performance from the age of 12. Her film debut came in 1993 with a starring role in Denys Arcand’s “Love and Human Remains,” where she portrayed a dominatrix, drawing early critical attention for her dramatic range.

Notable Film and Television Roles

Kirshner gained recognition for her role as Mandy, a seductive and lethal assassin in the television series 24, appearing in five episodes beginning in 2001. This role contributed significantly to raising her profile in American television.

She also appeared in several feature films, including Party Monster, Now and Forever, and Miss Conception. She played supporting characters in indie and mainstream cinema alike, such as Cynthia in The Barrens (2012), Amy in 388 Arletta Avenue (2011), and Julia in I Think I Do (1997).

Kirshner’s diverse character portrayals extended to television, with recurring and guest roles in series such as Defiance, Bloodline, Lost Girl, Graceland, and The Cleaner. She also took on roles in earlier series including Johnny’s Girl, Tropical Heat, Dracula: The Series, and War of the Worlds.

In the video game adaptation of 24, her voice was used for the character Mandy. In 2002, she was ranked 43rd on Maxim magazine’s “Hot 100 Women” list, and the same year, received a nomination for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards along with Beverly Polcyn for their scene in Not Another Teen Movie.
