Michelle Hurd

Michelle Hurd was born on December 21, 1966, in New York City, USA. She is the daughter of acclaimed actor Hugh L. Hurd. Michelle attended Saint Ann’s School in Brooklyn and later enrolled at Boston University, where she earned her degree in theater arts. In addition to her academic training, she studied modern dance at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in New York City, further enriching her artistic foundation. After graduating from Boston University, she was accepted into London’s National Theatre, where she honed her craft and expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a renowned institution.

Theater and Film Career

Michelle Hurd began her acting career in the theater, where she performed in a wide range of productions, including many Shakespearean plays. Her work on stage laid a strong foundation for her transition to film and television. Hurd made her film debut in 1989 with a small role as a student in Aaron Russo’s comedy Rude Awakening. Though the part was minor, it marked the start of her screen career.

Throughout the 1990s, she appeared in several films, with her most notable role during that period being in Sydney Pollack’s Random Hearts (1999), starring Harrison Ford. While her role was limited, the film gave her valuable exposure. She continued building her filmography with roles in movies such as Play It by Ear, Double Parked, and the television film Too Late to Say Goodbye.

In 2012, Michelle appeared in a more prominent role in the comedy Girl Most Likely, directed by Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman, alongside Kristen Wiig, portraying the character Libby. In the years that followed, she was cast in additional films including Peer Pedersen’s We Don’t Belong Here, a family drama also featuring Catherine Keener. Michelle Hurd’s television career began in 1991 with her role as Dana Kramer on NBC’s long-running soap opera Another World.
