Born in May 6, 1974, Michelle Kosinski grew up in Cinnaminson Township located in New Jersey, Philadelphia. She was class valedictorian at the Holy Cross High School. She was trained in classical ballet and was a cheerleader and involved actively in creative arts and writing. She enrolled in the accelerated master’s program in Northwestern University and received both her Bachelor and Master‘s degree while graduating. Though she started with magazine writing program, she shifted to broadcasting journalism in a while. She has performed ballet in the community and at the university campus as member of the Northwestern University Dance Ensemble (NUDE). She is engaged to Kimbell Duncan. He is a 48 year old investment banker (retired) who manages the Rush Foundation that is involved in efficient ways to stop the spread of HIV in Africa, especially in the sub-Saharan region.

Profession

Kosinski started her career in broadcast journalism at WIFR located in Rockford, Illinois. She later moved to WSOC-TV and was responsible for establishing the Piedmont Bureau. She left WSOC-TV in 2001 and joined WTVJ situated in Miami. In the year 2010, she was made the foreign correspondent at NBC and moved from her base in Southeast Bureau to London.

Assignments

Kosinski has covered  several national and international stories including the assassination of Benazir Bhutto in Pakistan, the terrorist threats and attacks in Europe, the poisoning of  Alexander Litvinenko, the destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina, the Utah mine collapse, and the Virginia Tech shootings. While at WTVJ and WSOC-ABC, she did several investigative reporting in the long form category. Her other assignments include reporting on the earthquakes in Chile and Haiti in the year 2010, the Deep water Horizon oil spill, and the 2010 case against Joran Van der Sloot in Chile.

Michelle has been honored with many awards and accolades during her career. She received an Emmy Award for her coverage on immigration issues while working for WTVJ-NBC 6 in Miami. In 2005, she was honored with the Woman of the Year award by the South Florida Women in Communications Organization. While working in Charlotte for WSOC-ABC, she was voted as the Best Reporter in Charlotte by the readers of the arts and entertainment magazine of the city.
