Mike Conley Jr. is known as an American professional basketball player for the Utah Jazz of the NBA. He is most famous for being a long time member of the Memphis Grizzlies.
Mike Conley Jr was born as Michael Alex Conley Jr. on October 11, 1987, in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He and his three siblings, Joan, Sydney, and Jon were born to their parents, Mike Conley Sr. and Rene Corbin Conley. He is the oldest child of the pack and his athletism can be said to be hereditary as his father, Mike, was additionally a competitor who contended in the 1984 and 1992 Olympics for the United States. He ended up winning a silver medal in 1984 and gold in 1992. His younger sister, Sydney Conley is also an Olympic athlete.
In the 2007 NBA draft, Conley was drafted by the Memphis Grizzlies with the fourth pick behind Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, and Al Horford. He started his sophomore year battling another top guard Kyle Lowry for playing time. He had a long career with the Grizzlies where he earned a spot on the Top 10 list of point guards. He is a 2013 NBA All-Defensive Second Team member. He won two NBA Sportsmanship Awards in 2014 and 2016. In July 2016, he signed a contract extension with the Grizzlies. He was paid very well but his team could never seem to get over the hump on their quest for the championship.
In June 2019, Conley was traded to the Utah Jazz for multiple players. He was sad to leave the team that drafted him but he understood that they were moving into a phase of rebuilding.
