Background and Early Life

Born on December 6, 1995, in Los Angeles, California, Molly Gordon is the only child of filmmaker parents. Her father, Bryan Gordon, is an award-winning director known for projects such as Career Opportunities, Party Down, and Pie in the Sky. Her mother, Jessie Nelson, is a film producer and screenwriter credited with works like Love the Coopers and Corrina, Corrina. Raised in a creative household, Molly was introduced to the performing arts at an early age and began acting in children's theater when she was just three years old.

Despite enrolling at New York University for a brief period, she left the program after two weeks, feeling that it wasn’t the right fit for her artistic goals or personal development.

Acting Career and Breakthrough Roles

Molly Gordon made her on-screen debut in the 2001 drama I Am Sam, which was written and directed by her mother, Jessie Nelson. Although the role was minor, it set the stage for a career in film and television. She continued to refine her craft over the years and eventually appeared in larger productions.

In 2015, Gordon played a supporting role in the holiday comedy Love the Coopers. That same year, she appeared in the drama Ithaca and made guest appearances on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. Her breakout came with her performance as Maddie in the 2018 comedy Life of the Party, where she starred alongside Melissa McCarthy.

Animal Kingdom and Voice Acting Work

One of Gordon’s most significant television roles has been as Nicky in the TNT crime drama Animal Kingdom, which heightened her visibility and earned her critical recognition. In addition to her on-screen acting, she has lent her voice to several characters in the animated political satire series Our Cartoon President, showcasing her versatility in voice acting.
