Naomie Harris is a British actress born in London in 1976. She was raised solely by her mother, Liselle Kayla, who was born in Jamaica. Her father, originally from Trinidad, separated from her mother before Naomie's birth. Harris attended St Marylebone School and later continued her education at Woodhouse College as a sixth-form student.
She graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge, in 1998 with a degree in Social and Political Sciences. Furthering her passion for acting, Harris trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, setting the foundation for her professional acting career.
Naomie Harris began acting at the age of nine, appearing in television series and films. One of her early roles includes a part in the science fiction remake of The Tomorrow People. Her breakthrough came in 2002 when she starred as Selena in the post-apocalyptic thriller 28 Days Later. That same year, she also featured in the television adaptation of Zadie Smith’s acclaimed novel, White Teeth.
Harris gained further international recognition for her portrayal of Tia Dalma, a mysterious voodoo priestess, in the second and third installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. She later took on the role of Winnie Mandela in the biographical drama Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, a performance praised for its emotional depth and realism. One reviewer noted her portrayal was so authentic it "did not seem as if she was acting."
Another landmark in her career is her performance as Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond film series, beginning with Skyfall in 2012. Her role brought a modern and empowered dimension to the iconic character, making her a standout presence in the franchise.
