Early Career and Comedy

Pedrad's early career began in sketch comedy and improv. She performed with The Groundlings, a well-known Los Angeles-based improvisational troupe. She also created and starred in a one-woman show titled "Me, Myself & Iran" at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in Los Angeles. The show gained critical acclaim and was selected for the HBO Comedy Festival in Las Vegas.

Rise on Television: Saturday Night Live

Pedrad appeared in guest roles on television series such as "Gilmore Girls," "The Winner," "ER," and "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia." Her big break came in 2009 when she joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live." She made history as the first female Middle Eastern cast member on the show. She remained part of the SNL cast until 2014, featuring prominently in sketches and gaining recognition for her range of comedic characters.

After leaving SNL in 2014, Pedrad joined the cast of the sitcom "Mulaney," which aired briefly before its cancellation in 2015.

Film and Voice Work

Parallel to her television success, Pedrad took on supporting roles in various films. These include appearances in "No Strings Attached," "The Dictator," "The Lorax," "Despicable Me 2," and "Cooties." She has also lent her voice to animated projects, further showcasing her versatility.
