Personal life

Nathan Michael Lyon was born in New South Wales in 1987. He moved to Canberra when he was in his teens. He met Mel Waring while living in Canberra. They dated for long and got married. He has a son and a daughter with Mel.

Mel is an experienced nanny. Her current career details are not known to the media. She used to travel to all international destinations for his matches, even when she was pregnant. Nyon has a frequent thigh injury that has hurdled his career twice, till date. He went through rehabilitation program to allow him to heal. It was said that the injury became worse over the course of the series, since he refused to take a break.

His personal life is totally kept away from the media, on purpose. He never talks about his parents, siblings and his childhood. His past girlfriends before Mel are not known to the media. Mel was his only girlfriend who became visible to the media. Thus, it is assumed that Mel is his first serious girlfriend. His dating life with Mel is also a secret. Career

He is a right arm batsman and right arm off break bowler. His career started in Canberra when he was selected for ACT Cricket’s under 17 team. He was also selected for under 19 team. He was debuted for ACT Comets in 2008. In 2010, he moved to Adelaide and worked as a staff in Adelaide Oval. He played for many clubs and got his debut in Twenty20 in 2010. He played for 2010-2011 Twenty20 and became the leading wicket taker of the season. He became a part of Australia A team and became the man of the series. In 2013, he was switched to Sydney Sixers.

In 2011, he was selected for the international test squad. He made his test debut against Sri Lanka in the same year. In the same season, he became the third Australian and 17thplayer to have taken a wicket in his first ball. He played three consecutive test matches in December 2011. In 2013, he was the only spinner in 2013 Ashes Series but was later dropped out for Ashton Agar. He made his international Twenty20 debut against India in 2016. He has taken 228 test wickets, 17 ODI wickets, 342 FC wickets and 61 LA wickets. He was recognized with Border Gavaskar Trophy in 2014-15 and Frank Worrell Trophy in 2015-2016 for his performances.
