Brennan got three Emmy nominations for Chappelle's Show. He got one for directing "Rick James," and he got the other two for writing and creating the show. Chappelle's Show is the bestselling TV program DVD ever, moving almost nine million units worldwide.

In 2017, Brennan released his second one-hour stand-up special called 3 Mics on Netflix to high praise and acclaim from credits and fellow comedians. 3 Mics features Brennan switching between three different microphones symbolizing three distinct styles of comedy.
