Paul Bedard was born in New England and earned a degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. From a young age, he exhibited a strong interest in both physical endurance and wildlife, passions that would later shape his unique career path.
At the age of twenty, Bedard began participating in Ironman competitions, including distance, double-distance, and ultra-distance triathlons. His commitment to extreme physical challenges demonstrated his determination and mental toughness—traits that would later prove essential in his work with dangerous animals.
Bedard's passion for animals initially led him to explore shark rescue and relocation efforts in the Florida Keys. However, after realizing that he was prone to seasickness, he shifted his focus to alligators. This pivot allowed him to continue contributing to wildlife rescue in an environment more suited to his strengths.
Together with fellow wildlife specialist Jimmy Riffle, Paul Bedard co-founded "GATOR BOYS Alligator Rescue." The team is known for humanely capturing and relocating alligators from residential and urban areas to safer habitats such as the Everglades Holiday Park. Their work prioritizes both public safety and animal welfare.
Their efforts caught the attention of Animal Planet, leading to the creation of the reality television show "Gator Boys," which brought national attention to their rescue operations and helped raise awareness about alligator conservation.
