Paul Bongiorno

Paul Bongiorno is an Australian political journalist and commentator.

Paul Bongiorno was raised in Ballarat, Victoria. He holds a master's degree in theology from the Pontifical Urban University in Rome and worked for a time as a Catholic priest.

In 1974 he left the priesthood and began in television, moving through Seven Network in Melbourne and WIN TV in Wollongong. In 1978 he moved to Brisbane with Network Ten and was a reporter and, briefly, a weather presenter. While in Brisbane he won four Walkley Awards for his investigative journalism. He took a voluntary redundancy in June 2014 and has since become a regular contributor to The Saturday Paper online. He is also a regular commentator on the ABC Radio National Breakfast.

Paul is now married to Judith Moran and has two daughters, Carla and Renata. He is a second cousin to Bernard Bongiorno who is a former justice on the Supreme Court of Victoria.
