Richard Yashel Camacho Puello, known professionally as Richard Camacho, was born on January 22, 1997, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is the eldest of three brothers. Music and performance run in his family—his father is a musician, and his mother is a dancer. Richard is of Dominican-American descent and developed an early interest in music and performing arts, inspired by his creative family environment.
Richard Camacho rose to prominence as a member of CNCO, a Latin boy band formed during the first season of the Spanish-language musical competition series, La Banda. The show was created by Ricky Martin and Simon Cowell and aimed to discover the next big Latin music group by auditioning talented teenage singers. Ricky Martin also served as the show's producer and mentor to the winning group.
CNCO originally consisted of members Joel Pimentel, Richard Camacho, Erick Brian Colón, Christopher Vélez, and Zabdiel De Jesús. They quickly gained international fame following their win on La Banda in 2015. In 2016, the group released their debut album, Primera Cita, on August 26. The album was a commercial success and featured their first single, "Tan Fácil," which reached the number one spot on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart.
The group followed up with other popular tracks, including “Reggaetón Lento,” “Para Enamorarte,” and “Quisiera.” Throughout 2017, CNCO embarked on a global tour, reportedly selling out forty concerts across fifteen different countries, solidifying their reputation as one of the leading Latin boy bands of the decade.
Richard Camacho is a father to a daughter named Aaliyah Sofia, whom he shares with Yocelyn Alexander. Yocelyn is a model and social media personality originally from Trenton, New Jersey, known for her fashion-forward content on Instagram. Though Camacho keeps his personal life relatively private, he occasionally shares glimpses of fatherhood and family through social media.
