Richard had many roles in Television as well, the most important of which is in the TV series "Home Improvement" (from 1991 to 1999) in which he played the role of Ai Borland in 202 total episodes. We saw him even in an episode of "Boy Meets World" (1995), while he’s been the host of the programs "WOW! The Most Amazing Acts on Earth" (1996), "Chariots of the Gods? The Mysteries Continue" (1996), and "Foot Soldier" (1998). He then appeared in an episode of "Recess" (2000), and in another episode of "That '70s Show" (2001), before starting the successful hosting on the programs "Family Feud" (2002–2006) and "Bingo America" (2008–2009). In 2002 Richard appeared also in the music video “Someday” of The Strokes, which opened the featuring of the band on a fictional show of Family Feud. He also appeared in an episode of "Dirt" (2008), "True Jackson, VP" (2010), in two episodes of "Last Man Standing" (2013) and two episodes of "The Bold and the Beautiful" (2017), "Detroiters" (2017), and, starting in 2018, he is in the TV series “Find Your Future Reality” in the role of himself.
Richard also wrote two books, “House Broken: How I Remodeled My Home for Just Under Three Times the Original Bid” (1999) and “Handy at Home: Tips on Improving Your Home from America's Favorite Handyman” (2002).
Richard married Tudi Roche, an actress and singer, in 1985, and they had a child, Cooper Andrew Wilson, that was born in 1992.
Richard is very active in social media, and he likes to keep in touch with his fans: he has a personal profile on Facebook, where he counts more than 2800 friends, and a personal page with more than 900 followers. Richard also has a Twitter account where he’s followed by more than 3.7k people. His estimated net worth is around $10 million.

A funny story about the start of his career has been reported in an interview to news.com.au: When the show first aired in 1991, Karn said he “didn’t really understand how it would change my life. My wife and I managed an apartment building for our day jobs and it got to the point where we had someone call up and say, ‘Hey we’ve got a leak in our sink. Can you please come and take a look?’. I went down there and there’d be like 15 of their friends sitting there and they’d say, ‘See, Al is our super [building superintendent].’ That kind of hit me and I thought, maybe it’s time to give up the day job.”
