Rick Harrison

From the age of eight Richard has suffered from epilepsy, a condition that, at times, confined him to his bed and, in the process, helped Richard to develop a love of reading. Physics and history were his favorite reads, but Richard was also particularly intrigued by the series of books written by John Fitzgerald. Even though he had this immense love for reading, Richard did not attain a college education. Richard actually dropped out of Taft Middle school during the tenth grade and endeavored to sell luxury bags that were presupposed to be fakes. From this rather shady business, Richard earned a whopping $2,000 a week.

Career

With his great ability to conjure up money Richard, in 1989, while he was still in his twenties, decided to team up with his dad and open a pawn shop close to the Las Vegas Strip. The business started off slow, but almost two decades later, it boomed, and by 2005, Richard’s business was making record interest income of close to $700,000per year from the loaning out of funds. On the History Channel series, Pawn Stars, Richard has earned several aliases; one of these is “The Spotter” which came about because of his keen eye when it comes to identifying valuable items. Another of Richard’s other alias is “The Old Man,” a tag earned this from his age.

Richard’s bookworm attributes resulted in him writing and publishing a biography in 2011. Richard’s biography was titled License to Pawn: Steals and My Life at the Gold & Silver and it reached a rank of #22 on The New York Times Best Seller. When it comes to television, Richard has made numerous appearances on screen as both an actor and a reality star. Among the appearances Richard has made are:  Blood Sweat and Heels, The Middle, The Story of the US, Rachael Ray, and iCarly, to name a few.

Social media was once cruel to the lauded reality TV personality as there were rumors making the rounds stating that Richard had died in 2016. The news was initially propagated by a Facebook page called RIP Old Man Harrison. The History Channel, as well as family and friends never came out to make any announcement regarding Richard’s demise which, of course, rendered the news as fake.

Net Worth

For his participation in the Pawn Star show, Richard, according to sources, is estimated to earn not less than $15,000 per episode.
