Background

Ronald "RJ" Cyler II was born on March 21, 1995 in Jacksonville, Florida. Cyler was brought up as a young black child in the state of Florida. He is the most youthful of three offspring of his parents. His mother Katrina works as a cook. His father, Ronald Cyler is employed as a truck driver.

His folks, who were working yet still struggling with finances, sold what they needed to move from Florida to California in 2013. They were doing bad economically until in a matter of seconds before he won his big break and job in Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

Cyler completed his secondary school education in California.

Career

At 12 years old, he began a dance group with his older brother. In January 2012, RJ heard a commercial for open tryouts in the Jacksonville region. RJ was approached to head to Los Angeles for another acting camp, which around then RJ's tutor requested that his folks consider moving to California so as to help a conceivable future in the acting world.
