Soon Hee Newbold was born in Seoul, South Korea on November 11, 1974, but was adopted as an infant by American parents. She grew up in Frederick, Maryland and has two siblings, both sisters. Newbold showed talent early on and by the age of five she was playing piano and by age seven she was playing the violin. She went on to win several prestigious competitions as a concert artist as a young girl.
Her musical talent opened up many doors for her and she was soon playing as a soloist in professional orchestras across the globe. Newbold performed in famous venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Disney World, Aspen Music Festival and School, and Tanglewood. Newbold attended Frederick High School before going on to graduate from James Madison University with a Bachelor of Music degree. She got her start in acting in the film "The Waterboy" starring Adam Sandler. Newbold currently lives in California with her husband Erin Michael Rettig who she married in 1996.
