Sydney Leroux is a Canadian professional soccer player who was born on May 7, 1990, in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada. Her full name is Sydney Rae Leroux Dwyer and she was born to her Candian mother Sandi Leroux and American father Ray Chadwick. Leroux attended Johnston Heights Secondary School in Surrey where she played on the school's soccer team. She was known as the high school's leading soccer scorer on the soccer team. Leroux also participated in track and field and won Provincials in the 4 x 100 meters relay. Leroux went on to play three seasons of club soccer with Coquitlam City Wild.

She helped the team reach the Provincial Cup Championships in 2003, 2004, and 2005. From a young age, Leroux dreamed of playing for the United States women's national soccer team. When she was 15, Leroux moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where she attended Horizon High School during her junior and senior years. Upon graduating high school, Leroux went on to play soccer for the University of California, Los Angeles from 2008 to 2011. In 2012, Leroux became the youngest player of the Olympic team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London where she helped her U.S. team win against New Zealand 2-0 earning them an Olympic Gold medal. She has been dating English soccer player Dom Dwyer since 2014 and the couple was married in a private ceremony in January of 2015. The following year, Leroux announced she was having a son who was born on September 10, 2016, and named Cassius Cruz Dwyer.
