She started her career as a gospel singer with the Kirk Franklin and the Family.  She sang solo on several tracks when she was with the group, including  ‘Now Behold the Lamb’, ‘Don’t Take Your Joy Away’,  and ‘Lean on Me’ and. Later, MaryJ.Blige, R.Kelly, Crystal Lewis, and Bono joined the group. she released “The Master Plan” her own album in 2009.

Education

At the age of 12, Tamela J. Mann started singing in the church with adult choir, and most of the time she sang solos. Though, she was timid, she was very energetic in high school choirs and the local church.

Tamela started her music career through joining the Kirk Frnaklin and the Family group, multi-Grammy Award winners, and a Double Platinum Gospel.  She also performed with Yolanda Adams, Al Green, Mary J. Blige, Celine Dion, R. Kelly, Bono and Fred Hammond. She also joined the gospel musical team of David E. Talbert who also directed the stage play ‘He say – She Say – But What Does God Say”.

In 1999, Mann started acting in stage plays, and her debut play was “I Can Do Bad all By Myself”. She also acted in several other shows.  Mann has appeared on BET Soundstage, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, 1999 Grammy Awards, The USA World Olympics, Tyler Perry’s meet the Browns, and Tyler Perry’s House of Payne, and several other television shows.  She also appeared in several feature films. In 2012, Mann acted in her debut film ‘Sparkle’, a remake of 1976 film “Sparkle” along with R&B singer and American Idol Winner Sparks and Whitney Houston. Currently, Mann, and her husband David filming a new cooking show ‘Hanging with the Manns’.

In 2005, Mann and David created their own group and named “Tillymann Music Group” through which they released many projects.  In 2005, the couple released her(solo Performance) the ‘Gotta-Keep-Movin’ from the album. Also, in the year 2007, Mann released “The Live-Experience” her 1st live album.  Mann’s powerful songs ‘Take it to Jesus’ and ‘Father can You Hear Me’ are recorded on the soundtrack album of the movie ‘Dairy of a Mad Black Woman’. Mann’s ‘Take me to the king’ is an award winning song and the take me to the king lyrics gave her the best experience.

Personal Life

Tamela J. Mann is married to an actor David Mann. Mann played as Mr. Brown’s daughter in movies and the Madea TV shows. The couple is professional actors. They have 4 children together and 8 grandchildren.  They renewed their wedding vows on their 25th wedding anniversary.  She was 240lbs before, but, with her weight loss regime she made a sensation, now she continuing to look gorgeous.
