Vella Lovell is an American actress best known for her work in the television series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and for her portrayal of Khadija in the film The Big Sick. Vella Lovell was born on September 13, 1985, in New Mexico. Vella Lovell earned an undergraduate degree from New York University; she also attended the Interlochen Arts Academy and is a graduate of the Julliard School. Vella currently stars in the web series that she co-writes with her best friend, Clea Alsip, entitled Friend Therapy.
Before being cast in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Vella had minor roles in the television series Girls and Younger. In Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Vella’s character, Heather, provides comic relief for the Golden Globe Award winning actress Rachel Bloom and has grown to be a fan favorite. In season three, fans were treated to the underachieving Heather stepping up and making big changes in her personal and professional life. Vella has also done theater and has appeared in The Bacchae at Shakespeare in the Park, Kaspar House at The Flea Theater and A Streetcar Named Desire at the Williamstown Theatre Festival. Recently, Vella has been doing voice over work and played Princess Mermista in the Netflix animated series, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
