Family History

He was born in 1964 and American by birth. His father worked in Army and he proudly says that he came from a patriotic family. Along with his two brothers, he completed his schooling in Benjamin Franklin High School. From the school days, he is interested in acting and participated in stage dramas.

He is one of the few celebrities who don’t want to keep their family in lime light. Career

He got his first breakthrough from the TV serial The Equalizer and his role in Moloney helped him in achieving the stardom. In the initial days of his career, he played some uncredited roles but from late 1980’s, people started recognizing him. Some of the popular TV serials he acted include The Gregory Hines Show, The Weber Show/Cursed, Close to Home etc. The role of Det. William 'Bunk' Moreland in The Wire series is one of the best roles he had played till date. On the bigger screen also, his comic roles are popular and those who had seen the movies Stay Alive, Horrible Bosses, Lay the Favorite etc. can’t forget his comedy scenes easily.

He is very dedicated and tries to give his best for every role he plays. For the role of Antoine Batiste in Treme series, he learnt playing trombone. Though body double was used in most of the scenes, he himself tried playing trombone in front of the camera for few scenes which shows his commitment towards the job. Even in busy hectic schedule also, he occasionally acts in stage dramas and also produced some stage drams.
