Alex Flanagan

Alex Flanagan is a well-known American sports reporter who is born in 1972. Her city of birth is Sonoita in the state of Arizona in the United States of America. Her family is quite fortunate as they are the owners of “The Steak Out” restaurants in Sonoita and they also have an establishment at Dove Mountain.

Education and early life

You might as well say that Alex Flanagan has always been into journalism and this reflected in her yearly years. She graduated from the University of Arizona and interestingly enough, she did a student internship at KVOA-TV. This is a network which is NBC affiliated and it is one of the most watched ones in Arizona. However, right after she managed to graduate, she occupied the position of a general assignment news reporter as well as a weekend anchor at KCCO-TV.

Career experience

It is safe to presume that Flanagan always demonstrated huge interest towards sports reporting. Before she joined the ESPN network, she used to work for Fox Sports Net which later restructured and is now known as the Fox Sports Network. She managed to be the featured reporter, which is definitely a big deal, on The Keith Olbermann Evening News.

However, after jumping from one position to another, in the year of 2000, Alex Flanagan managed to land a contract at ESPN. Being a reporter for the SportsCenter, she had to file regular reports on famous NBA teams such as the Lakers, Dodgers, Angels and the Chargers. Another one of her responsibilities was to oversee and report the spring training as well as the NBA Playoffs. She stayed with the ESPN network until 2006 after which she was offered a position at the NFL Network.

Ever since 2006 Flanagan is a reporter as well as a host for the NFL Network. This is a considerable leap forward in her career. Since she joined the network she reported from five Super Bowls. She is also the host of a lot of shows and programs such as the NFL Total Access. However, after 2007 she started to do sideline reports for the NBC’s national broadcast. This is another significant leap in her career.

The Beijing Olympics

Flanagan was one of the hosts that NBC sent to cover the Beijing Olympics in August 2008. She had to anchor over six hours of the Olympics each night on the USA Network and CNBC. It is also something that had an impact on her salary. Reportedly, she received significant bonuses for this coverage from the NBC network.

Personal Life

Alex Flanagan has a vivid personal life as well. She is married to Kevin Flanagan. Interestingly enough she had spend her whole life around sports and her husband is a former basketball player of the team of the University of Arizona. They have two daughters and one son. To express her support for the ALS fundraising campaign, she completed the ALS ice bucket challenge in August, 2014.
