The incident took place in 2013 when Allison's husband Mike was working for The Weather Channel and experienced a devastating tornado in El, Reno, Oklahoma. He had to get stitched on his left hand. The SUV he was in was thrown off by 200 yards by the vicious tornado after taking it up 30 feet up in the year.
The tornado incident made the couple highly emotional. In interviews, Allison has said that Mike is usually nervous when she chases storms and tornados. After the incident, Mike took a break from chasing tornados. Notably, the couple learned something from Mike's tornado injury. They discovered no harm in maintaining a little distance from tornados, as life is far too precious to take risks like the one Mike took. Even though it would be great to capture excellent footage, it is not worth a life.
Allison is quite well off and can retire to enjoy a lavish and relaxing life, but her love for the weather and adventure pushes her to keep working as a meteorologist.
Allison met her husband, Mike Bettes, in a weather conference, and the couple got engaged and tied the knot in 2012 in Atlanta as they thoroughly enjoyed each other's company. Being in the same profession made things easy because they could easily relate to each other.

But The couple proved all to be wrong.
Allison's hobbies include running marathons running, kayaking, spending time with family, friends, and her golden retriever Joppy, who was rescued from the Joplin Missouri EF5 tornado. She loves weather, space, and animals. Allison is an introvert by nature, as noticed by her colleagues. She does not share much about her personal life and prefers sticking to a strict professional approach.
