Early Life and Rise to Prominence

Born on February 29, 1960, in North Hollywood, California, Anthony Robbins was originally named Anthony J. Mahavorick. He later adopted the surname Robbins from his second stepfather. Robbins is a self-made achiever with no formal college education. He began his career by promoting seminars for his mentor Jim Rohn. Inspired by Rohn’s teachings, Robbins started creating and selling his own seminars, incorporating neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), which he studied under NLP co-founder Dr. John Grinder.

Robbins gained mainstream recognition through televised infomercials and the success of his best-selling self-help books, Unlimited Power and Awaken the Giant Within. His work has been featured widely in media outlets, including Time, Fortune, Forbes, Success Magazine, and The Oprah Winfrey Show. One of the hallmark features of his “Unleash the Power Within” seminar is the firewalk experience, which was notably highlighted in Oprah’s series Oprah’s Next Chapter. Although a 2016 event in San Jose received controversial media coverage due to attendee injuries, subsequent reports clarified that the situation had been inaccurately portrayed and misrepresented by those not in attendance.
