Beth Behrs was born on December 26, 1985, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. At the age of 15, she moved with her family to Marin County, California. Her father, David Behrs, held an administrative position at a college, while her mother, Maureen Behrs, worked as a teacher. Beth has a younger sister who is six years her junior.
She completed her early education at E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg before moving and enrolling at Tamalpais High School in California in 2001. Behrs also studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, gaining substantial experience in stage performance. In 2004, she relocated to Los Angeles to attend the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, graduating in 2008 with a degree in critical studies and performance.
Behrs began performing in theater at the age of four and was also a soccer player during her school years. She became notably active in school drama programs and continued to pursue musical theater during her time in San Francisco. Her performances included roles in musicals such as Dangling Conversation: The Music of Simon and Garfunkel, A Bright Room Called Day, and Korczak’s Children. She received classical vocal training, which later contributed to her being cast as Sandy Dumbrowski in a production of Grease by Ray of Light Theatre. In 2006, she was crowned Miss Marin County and subsequently won a Young Musicians Foundation Vocal Scholarship after her graduation. In 2013, she appeared as a presenter at the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Behrs landed guest roles early in her TV career, including appearances on NCIS: Los Angeles and ABC’s Castle. After seven auditions, she secured the co-lead role of Caroline Channing in the hit CBS series 2 Broke Girls, which significantly boosted her profile. She gained further exposure by appearing on Bravo’s reality series It’s a Brad, Brad World in 2013 and co-hosted the 40th People’s Choice Awards in 2014.
