Bobby Moynihan was born on January 31, 1977, in Eastchester, New York. His parents are Robert Sr. and Julie Moynihan. He attended Eastchester High School, where he was an active member of the Players Club and Tech Club, showing early interest in the performing arts and stage production.
Moynihan later pursued a degree in theatre at the University of Connecticut, graduating in 1999 after four years of study. Shortly after completing his education, he began his career in comedy and acting.
After graduation, Moynihan became involved with the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York City, where he honed his comedic and improvisational skills. At UCB, he was a key performer in well-known improv groups such as "The Stepfathers" and "Police Chief Rumble."
