American actress Ellie Kemper was born to Dorothy Ann and David Woods Kemper on May 2, 1980 in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. Born into one of the richest families in the State of Missouri, Ellie was born as a second child to her parents. Though Ellie is American, the actress has German and Italian ancestry as well. Dorothy Ann (Ellie's father) was a well-known personality in Missouri. He was the CEO and chairman of a bank holding company, Commerce Bancshares, founded by the great-grandfather of Ellie Kemper. Talking about her education, Ellie pursued her education from Conway Elementary School at St Louis, after she was moved to St. Louis with her parents at the age of five. The actress then attended John Burroughs High School from where she got interested in improvisational comedy and theatre after she got in touch with her teacher, Jon Hamm ( a TV actor- plays a role in a TV series 'Mad Men' ). She also attended Princeton University in 1999 and played hockey while in college, but later she quit her team and focussed on theatre. Later, she was also a part of a musical comedy group, Quipfire! Her career into the world of acting took its inception officially with a commercial advertising at Kmart with which she earned Screen Actors Guild card. Her guest appearances in shows like 'The Gastineau Girls' and Demetri Martin was considered as the 'breakout role' of her career.
