Gardner started his professional career for the New York Yankees when he selected in the third round of the 2005 Major League Baseball Draft. In addition to being drafted, he was also awarded 210,000 as bonus compensation. Before going into the pro leagues, he had to cut his teeth in the minor leagues. He played in 'New York-Penn League' and was ranked 5th in that league. He played for the Trenton Thunder in the Arizona Fall League in 2007.

In 2008, Brett made his pro debut for the major leagues. Brett finished the season with a batting average of 0.228.  He was regarded as the fastest player for New York Yankees and became extremely popular with the fan base.

During his career, he suffered an elbow injury, hand bone injury and several other injuries. However, he was able to recover from each injury to regain his playing form on the field. In 2009, Brett played in the World Series Championship Game. That season, he finished with a batting average of 0.270 with 26 stolen bases and 23 RBI.

In 2015, he was also a nominee for the Hank Aaron Award. Also in the same year, he was once the AL Player of the Week. Brett was recognized for his disciplined play on the field throughout his playing days by his peers. 

One ability that most baseball fans recognize Brett for is his ability to steal bases. He is extremely fast and can get to the base before the other team tries to get him out. He isn’t just quick though, he is extremely disciple and will not take foolish risks. He always tries to assess the situation before making his move. He has excellent timing and usually finds a way to steal the ball without getting caught.

He was ranked third best in the league for making contact with 93% of his swings at bat. Even though he didn’t always score or get on base when he hit the ball, it was still an amazing skill. He had really good eye coordination to be able to hit the ball almost all the time. It was through all the hours of hard work and practice that he put in his craft when he was training with his father.

Personal Life

Brett married his wife, Jessica in December of 2007. The couple have two sons named Miller and Hunter. The couple and kids live in Summerville, South Carolina. The kids are able to live a comfortable life and may end up following in his father’s footsteps.

Brett’s family owns a huge farm in his hometown of Holy Hill. Brett was raised on the farm with his older brother, Glen by their parents. The farm gave Brett ample room to practice his baseball skills.
