Brigitte Macron is a French schoolteacher and wife of Emmanuel Macron, President of France. Brigitte Macron was born Bridgitte Marie-Claude Trogneux on April 13, 1953, in Amiens, France. Bridgette was the youngest of six children and her parents, Simone and Jean, were the owners of the Chocolaterie Trogneux, which was founded in 1872. In the 1980’s, Brigitte taught literature at the College Lucie-Berger in Strasbourg, the French capital. During the 1990’s Brigitte was teaching French and Latin at a Jesuit high school in her hometown of Amiens; it was at this school that she first met Macron. Brigitte was married when she met Macron and he was also twenty five years older than she.
Following the president’s election, the French government announced that Brigitte Macron would not hold the official title of First Lady and would not be allocated an official budget for her activities. Emmanuel Macron stated that Brigitte would have the role she had always had and would not be hidden. In 1974, Brigitte married a banker, Andre-Louis Auziere, with whom she had three children. Sebastien Auziere, an engineer, Dr. Laurence Auziere-Jourdan, a cardiologist, and Tiphaine Auziere, a lawyer. Brigitte divorced Andre-Louis in 2006 and married Macron in 2007.
