Brooks Nielsen is an American singer who was born on January 3, 1984. Little is known about Nielsen's early life and background since the singer has made it a point to keep his personal life private. Nielsen has always been interested in music, even as a young child he would hang out with friends and play guitars. Eventually, he would begin to sing along and one day even suggested the friends officially form a band. When a friend heard about the group's formation, he asked them to perform at his party.
The group began writing songs and figuring out who would be their official members. After the official formation and their debut performance at a friend's party, the newly formed band moved to Long Beach, California where they would continue working on more songs. The group decided to call themselves "The Heebie-Geebies", but eventually agreed the name was too childish. After some time debating, they came up with the name "The Growlers" because they would always make fun of the band's lead guitarist Matt for growling while using the restroom. "The Growlers" became known for the style which was later dubbed "Beach Goth". The group has enjoyed rising fame ever since their formation in 2006.
