Formation of The Growlers

After their initial performance, the group of friends committed to developing their music further. They began writing original songs and determining a stable lineup of band members. The group relocated to Long Beach, California, a move that proved pivotal to their growth and creative development. Early on, they adopted the name "The Heebie-Geebies," but soon found it too whimsical and decided to change it. Eventually, they settled on the name “The Growlers,” inspired by an inside joke about their guitarist Matt's quirky habit of growling.

The Birth of Beach Goth

The Growlers became known for their distinctive style, which came to be known as "Beach Goth"—a unique blend that merges elements of surf rock, psychedelic, and garage rock with moody and theatrical aesthetics. Founded in 2006, the band gained a strong following through their genre-defying sound and memorable live performances. Over the years, their popularity steadily increased, solidifying their place in the alternative music scene.
