Carlos Gonzalez

Carlos Eduardo Gonzales was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela on 17th October, 1985. He is usually called as CarGo. His MLB career started with Colorado Rockies. Carlos played as a right fielder with Rockies. Most of the times in his career, he has played as left fielder. He has also remained National League Batting Champion. He is a three times Gold Glove Awards winner as well as one time Silver Slugger Award Winner.

Early Life and Minor League Career

Carlos was only five years old when his bother prompted him to play baseball. He started playing Little League program of Maracaibo. In Venezuela, Maracaibo can be regarded as the hub of baseball. Here, Carlos faced very tough competition. He was emerged as a star in his teenage. Carlos used to travel throughout the country for playing baseball. He grabbed media attention for the first time by slamming a home run off. This was against the country’s top pitcher of that time, the Felix Hernandez. Felix was also an All Star athlete. The Playing career of Carlos with minor league was started on 3rd August, 2002. He had signed his contract with Arizona Diamondbacks. In 2003, he played his professional baseball for Missoula Osprey. In 2004 he played for Single –A South Bend Silver Hawks and Low Single –A Yakima Bears. He started his 2005 season again with Silver Hawks. Due to a batting average of (.307), he was second in his team. He was listed number 32 by the Baseball America in their top 100 prospect list, in the year2006. In 2007 his number was 8 in top 10 prospect list of the Baseball America.

Professional Career with Major League and Achievements

Carlos was traded with Oakland Athletics on 14th December, 2007. This marked beginning of his Major League career. He started his first game of 2008 season on 30th May. At that time he was only 22 years old. It was on 20th June 2008 when he made the first home run of his career. This run of was against the Florida Marlins. In the same year Carlos was traded with Colorado Rockies. Carlos’s playing season with Oakland was not much impressive. He was limited to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. This is Triple -A affiliate of the Rockies. It was because every outfielder in Rockies met an injury; Carlos was called to the Major team. He proved himself the right choice by setting a record for the most hits in NLDS.

In his career, Carlos has a batting average of .291, with 987 hits and 179 home runs. He played All Star games twice, one in the year 2012 and other in 2013. Carlos has also remained NL batting champion in 2010. He has a net worth of $36.9 million
