Most of Carmelo's fans didn't want to blame him for cheating; they were all focused on how Patricia had tempted him into having a relationship with her, with the motive of wanting him to divorce Rosa. Every claim stated that she wanted to have a relationship with him even when she was married to another man. She wanted Carmelo to forget the fact that he was married to Rosa. Some of his critics didn't believe Carmelo and argued that it would take more than a hundred Patricias to seduce a man with a solid moral code and self-respect, especially an evangelist who is supposed to be following the word of God.

In 2017, Carmelo became a life coach and remarried in Dallas, Texas, to a woman named Dana Licciardello. After turning 60, Carmelo had no hope for a family or a long life; the vast majority of his family had either died or been so distant that he had started to have a bleak outlook on his future. Dana changed everything for him and gave him more reasons to live.
His Battle with Cancer
The evangelist faced a severe health problem in 2003; he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Multiple myeloma is a cancer of the blood that affects the bone marrow. Carmelo explained the struggle, "I've had so many difficult things happen to me over the last 12 years; it was almost a situation that made sense. I could see this coming to a close as I wasn't really doing anything, and I had hardly any requests for concerts. The things I needed to do best I wasn't doing. I figured my time was up." Carmelo managed to pull through and survive the battle with cancer. Some of his fans urged him to clean up his lifestyle because they believed the disease was a message from God, telling him that he needed to change his ways.
Carmelo felt a message from God that said to him that he should stick around a little longer. No one knows if Carmelo really got the message or if he is still taking things for granted in his personal life. Since he is seen as a public figure in the religious community, his fans want him to take more responsibility, present a better example, and become a good role model for children following the faith.
Death
On February 16, 2021, Carman passed away at a hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada, due to complications arising from surgery to repair a hiatal hernia. He was 65 years old at the time of his death, which occurred 28 days after his 65th birthday. In addition to his wife and five stepchildren, he is survived by ten step-grandchildren.
