Charlie Puth was born on December 2, 1991, in Rumson, New Jersey, United States. His mother, Debra Puth, is of Jewish descent, and his father, Charles Puth, has German ancestry. Charlie developed an early interest in music and began musical training as a child. He took piano lessons and studied jazz at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College. He later attended Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with a degree in Music Production and Engineering.
Puth started his career by launching a YouTube channel, where he uploaded acoustic covers of popular songs. His talent gained attention in 2011 when he won an online video competition.
