Charlie Rose is a journalist and host on a television show in America. He was born on 5th January 1942 in North Carolina. He doesn’t have any siblings. His mother’s name is Margaret Frazier. His father’s name is Charles Rose Sr. His parents were tobacco farmers and owned a store also. Charlie spent his childhood living in a house above the store. He has been helping his parents in taking care of the store since he was 7 years old. He has always been curious about one thing or the other. He admitted to have faced a lot of trouble due to his curious nature. He was a star basketball player during his high school. He went to Duke University to pursue his degree in pre-med. But his interest changed to politics after working as an intern in senator’s office in North Carolina. He was a member of Kappa alpha: a fraternity in Duke University. He completed his bachelor degree in history in the year 1964. Then he went ahead to pursue a Juris Doctor from School of Law at Duke University in 1968.

He started his career as a freelancer with the BBC in 1972 where he handled some assignments. He got the job of weekend reporter for WPIX-TV in 1974. In the same year, he got his big break in the PBS series. In 1975, he was appointed as executive producer for Bill Moyers Journal. Soon after that he was seen on television. He won a Peabody Award in 1976 for his interview with Jimmy Carter for a TV show. After that, he worked at many places showing his interview skills. Finally, he was hired by KXAS-TV for a late night show which was after his name. After that, he moved to CBS news as an anchor in one of the first news broadcasts during late-night. The name of the show was Nighwatch. During that period, he interviewed Charles Manson. He won an Emmy Award for this interview in 1987. He worked for CBS news until 1990. After that, he became the anchor of the show “Personalities”. But he moved out of the show in just 6 weeks. He was premiered on “Thirteen” on 30th September 1991. He was also a correspondent on the show 60 Minutes from January, 1999 to September, 2005. He also appeared in Primary Colors as himself in the year 1998. He also interviewed US President Barack Obama in 2013.

He met his wife Mary when he was in Duke University. They got married in 1968. But they headed for divorce in 1980. He currently resides in New York. He is quite tall and has an athletic physique. He underwent surgery for mitral valve in 2006. He also spoke openly on the air about the surgery on June 12, 2006. He has been with his partner Amanda Burden, who is the chairman of the planning commission in New York City. His net worth is estimated to be around $20 million.
