The Best Friend Role of a Lifetime

In an interview with Fever Magazine, Cherie reflected on her acting career and her experiences in the industry. She was a very motivated and determined actress as a young girl. She landed one of the most memorable roles in the 1980’s broadcast television when she got the chance to play the best friend of Punky Brewster.

Cherie would end up getting more roles in her acting career but the Punky Brewster role is still the one that fans remember her most from. When she was asked how she got the role on the hit show, she said, “My uncle created the show and wanted to use my name. He gave me the script and told me to read it. I looked at the script said, “Oh this is great! When do I go to work?” He told me he sold the show to NBC and it’ll go to an actress. Then I was like, “Well then I want to be an actress!” To me, it was just about my name, how you going to use my name and let some other girls play me. I auditioned seven times and the president of NBC said, “Dude, give your niece the job.” And I got it!”

Even though her start was a random moment of clarity, Cherie fell in love with the art. Her uncle may have given her a helpful boost but the rest of it was up to her. She had many experiences in the acting industry, enough to write a book called Two Different Walks of Life. She was the topic of a book that her friend wrote, “Everybody always says it’s all about my experiences acting. It was written by a good friend of mine, Charisse Edey. We lived two different walks of life! People look at celebrity women and think that their life is so much different than the average woman, but we’re average with a different job. It shows that our lives parallel just like every woman does.”

Personal Life

Her personal life is very much closed off to the media. She has always kept her personal life to herself. She did not want the public to poke their noses into her life. In a public interview, she stated that two of her fans got naked in her hotel room. This happened in two different locations and one was black and the other was Puerto Rican.

In 2011, she got engaged to Ricky Romance, the brother of Raz-B. There are no official details as to why their engagement broke before they got married. There were many rumors that Cherie was pregnant with Ricky’s child and that was why they were rushing into a marriage. Ricky tweeted that Cherie was pregnant with his child and she was his fiancée. However, Cherie claimed that she was not pregnant and denied the fact that she was engaged to Ricky. There were pictures on the internet in which Cherie and Ricky were kissing each other and she had a diamond ring on her finger but all of the whispers and speculation went away when they broke up.
