Champion of Domestic Violence Awareness

Columba likes to support her husband in his campaigns and political events but she has also been able to be champion of her own issues. Her vast experience watching her husband participate in the political world gave her confidence that she could raise awareness about things that she personally cares about as well.

On her husband’s Youtube channel called Jeb Bush, she appears in a video called “Ending Domestic Violence” where she makes some comments on domestic violence, “October is the month for awareness of domestic violence. You are the key of raising the awareness. I believe both of us have a responsibility to use our voices to those suffering the most. So I'm giving a speech here tonight for the first time because I am all in for my husband. I've been married for 41 years with Jeff. Yu know he's been very helpful, he is incredible, he's involved in every issue that I am. I've been visiting some of the shelters, I'm so happy and honored to work with you. People that help the victims are very important. Every year it grows, it increases in in the most incredible ways that you can imagine. You have to take action. You know there's no step too small so that's you know the message I have for everybody you know to learn more about to get educated in to participate more in this Cara charity that is very important.”

She was naturalized to be a US citizen in the year 1979. Her net worth with her husband is estimated to be around 28.5 million dollars. Her height is five feet tall but she is a very strong woman when it comes to her mind.

She is a big fan of jewelry. She has spent a lot of money on her jewelry collection during her husband’s political career and the vast income he has been able to bring into their household. She was detained and fined by customs officials for lying about how much she’d spent during a Paris shopping trip in 1999. The truth was she spent $19,000 but ended up paying more than $4000 in fines when she lied about the actual amount

She was attacked in the media for weeks for her tendency to lie about her spending habits. She did not care about the negative attention, she wanted to spend as much as she could and the public shaming was not enough to stop her.

In the year 2000, she spent $42,311 in one day on a handful of pieces of diamond jewelry. There wasn’t an amount that was too much for her. Her purchases included a $25,000 pair of platinum diamond stud earrings and a $10,500 bracelet that she loved very much. She will not end her jewelry collection even amongst that bad publicity.
