Early Life and Education
Deirdre Bolton was born on June 1, 1964, in Newton Township, Pennsylvania. Unlike many of her peers, Bolton developed an early interest in languages and literature. Encouraged by her aunt to pursue her passions, she went on to earn a master's degree in English and French Literature from Iowa State University. She later obtained another master’s degree in French Literature from New York University. Reflecting on her time abroad, Bolton once remarked, “France is the best place to learn literature, because there is no other country in the world with such a big amount of writers and poets.”
