Diana Krall is a Canadian jazz singer and pianist who was born on November 16, 1964, in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. She was born to an elementary school teacher named Adella and an accountant named Stephen James. She grew up with her only sibling, Michelle who went on to become a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Krall grew up in a musical family with her mother singing in a community choir and her father playing the piano. She began learning to play the piano herself when she was just four-years-old. She went on to attend take her exams through The Royal Conservatory of Music and played jazz in high school. Krall earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston. After graduating college in 1983, Krall moved to Los Anges to play jazz. By 1993, Krall had returned to Canada and released her debut album, "Stepping Out".

She released her second album two years later called "Only Trust Your Heart". In 1996, Krall released her third studio album called "All four You: A Dedication to the Nat King Cole Trio". Her third album was nominated for a Grammy and was on the Billboard jazz charts for 70 weeks. Krall married British musician Elvis Costello on December 6, 2003, and had twin sons, Dexter Henry Lorcan and Frank Harlan James.
