Introduced to music at an early age he fondly remembers watching his Father perform from the side stage while still in diapers being as no surprise as to why such a strong bond with music had been curetted. , Dweezil continues to embrace his Father’s musical legacy utilizing guitars, bass, piano, banjo and unique choice of vocals.After receiving his first guitar at the age of six, Dweezil Latched onto the playing of the guitar and the production of music. Learning directly from Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai, Dweezil released his first album with the aid of Eddie at the age of twelve.

Despite his age, Dweezil still tours with his Father’s groups Zappa Plays Zappa which still plays his Father’s songs still featuring the band members Steve Val, Terry Bozzio, Napoleon Brock and a few others. Currently, they are scheduled to play for the first half of the year in multiple states.

Dweezil had a strong relationship with his family once his Father was off the stage, that time was spent with his family. A family of six, Dweezil has an older sister by the name of Moon, actress and novelist, a younger sister Diva, clothing designer, and a younger brother Ahmet, who runs a TV and film production company and is responsible for creating Disney’s Star Darlings franchise. After their Father’s death, the children are now fighting over his large inheritance due to their Mother dying from lung cancer and leaving the youngest son Ahmet in charge of the family business.

Their Mother Gail’s wishes were divided as such, both Ahmet and Diva would receive 30% of the estate and Dweezil and Moon would receive 20%. The children all feel shafted especially Moon who had been taking care of her daily. From taking her to appointments to serving her food, Moon felt her Mother’s decision to be unjust.

There is a reason behind this decision, Moon "Moon and Dweezil really never had any interest in the business," says Owen Sloane, the lawyer for the Zappa Family Trust, run by Ahmet and Diva, "whereas Ahmet is a businessperson and was involved in helping Gail make deals." But because of this ideology, Dweezil has to receive permission from the estate in order to play his Father’s music on stage.

After receiving a letter for a cease-and-desist from the trust to stop using the name Zappa plays Zappa, Dweezle renamed the tour 50 Years of Frank: Dweezil Zappa Plays Whatever the F@%k He Wants – The Cease and Desist Tour. "I want to honor our commitments to promoters, fans, the people I employ," he says, "so the only way to move forward was to change the name." and that he did.

Now onto Dweezle’s personal life. In 1998 he started dating his first long-term girlfriend, Lisa Loeb, a fellow musician. Quickly the two began to play music and go out on tours together. The relationship ended in 2004. Shortly after in 2005, Zappa married fashion stylist, Lauren Knudsen. They have two daughters in this relationship. In 2010, Lauren filed for a divorce from her husband. Even before the separation was finalized, Zappa married Megan Marsicano, in 2012.

Lauren stated irreconcilable differences as the reason for the separation. Both agree that they would share legal custody of the children. He also had a relationship with Kate Wagner and the actress, Sharan Stone before dating Lisa. Lauren requested him to pay a huge sum for the spousal support due to his income.
