At that time, she also became the first woman in the world to become a chief editor of the motorcycle magazine Cycle World. She was also the reporter-on-the-spot for television show produced by CNBC “The Money Club”, and she served as a Washington correspondent from 1990 to 1993 and general correspondent from 1995 to 1998 for the cable outlet. She then worked on The Fox News Channel as a senior business correspondent, and as the host on weekdays of the television show “Bulls & Bears”. She also frequently contributed to “Your World with Neil Cavuto”. However, her sense of humor was still intact and she used to quip, “I wanted to lose a few pounds…well man this chemo diet works!” Unfortunately, she lost the battle against the sickness in 2017, while she was under treatment in the hospital.
Neil Cavuto, the other host of "Your World," paid tribute to Brenda Buttner on his show with these words:
"I have some very sad news to share with you today: Our Brenda Buttner has passed away," he revealed. "Now, many of you know her as the unflappable host of 'Bulls and Bears,' but she was much more. Allow me now to tell you how much more. She was a Rhodes Scholar, but she'd never mention it," he explained. "Near the top of her Harvard class, but she would never ever say it. [...] All that smarts stuff is in her files, but the more important things filled her heart. It's what separated her from everyone else in this business. Not just dollars, you see, Brenda had depth. Let it be known that Brenda Buttner made us want to watch a business show with heart. Her heart, her spirit,” Cavuto said. “She democratized dollars and just made sense.”
Cavuto went on to explain that Buttner had a passion for motorcycles, animals and her two daughters. At one point, she put her career in journalism on hold to edit a motorcycle magazine.
