Katherine LaNasa was born on December 1, 1966, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Dr. James J. LaNasa Jr., a surgeon, and Anne Hardin. A naturally graceful child, Katherine developed a keen interest in the arts, particularly ballet, at a young age. She began formal dance training at the age of 12 and, by 14, was accepted into the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Demonstrating exceptional dedication and talent, LaNasa went on to complete a ballet internship with the Milwaukee Ballet. She later performed professionally with both Ballet West and the Karole Armitage Ballet in Salt Lake City, establishing a solid foundation for her eventual transition into the entertainment industry.
Katherine LaNasa’s entry into film and television began through her work as a dancer and choreographer. In 1989, she served as an assistant choreographer to John Carrafa for the film Rooftops. Her striking screen presence led to a small part in the 1990 movie Catchfire, marking her official on-screen debut.
Throughout the 1990s, LaNasa appeared in a variety of supporting roles across both television and film. Her credits during this period include Jack Reed: A Search for Justice (1994), Honey, I Shrunk the Audience (1994), Nothing but the Truth (1995), The Destiny of Marty Fine (1996), The Disappearance of Kevin Johnson (1996), and Murder at the Cannes Film Festival (2000).
LaNasa's television breakthrough came in 2001 when she was cast in a lead role as Bess Bernstein-Flynn Keats in the NBC sitcom Three Sisters. Her performance added to her growing body of work in major TV series. She went on to make appearances in several high-profile shows, including NYPD Blue, The Guardian, Judging Amy, and Two and a Half Men.
In addition, she portrayed Juliet Shakespeare in HBO’s comedy series 12 Miles of Bad Road, and from 2009 to 2011, she played Beverly Ford in the critically acclaimed drama Big Love.
In 2012, LaNasa was part of the NBC crime drama series Deception. Though short-lived, the show added to her diverse television portfolio. Similarly, she had a role in the CBS series Love Monkey (2006), another short-lived but notable production. More recently, she took on a leading role in the USA Network drama Satisfaction.
LaNasa also appeared in the independent film Love Is All You Need?, a social drama with LGBTQ themes, co-starring Tyler Blackburn, Jeremy Sisto, and Ana Ortiz. Her work across film and TV continues to highlight her range and adaptability as both an actress and former choreographer.
Well-regarded for her charm and elegance, Katherine LaNasa maintains a strong public presence at 49 years old. She is active on social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook, where she engages with fans and shares updates about her ongoing projects. Thanks to her extensive contributions to acting and choreography, her estimated net worth stands at approximately $5 million.
Katherine LaNasa has been married three times. Her first marriage was to renowned actor Dennis Hopper in 1989 when she was 22 and he was in his 50s. They divorced in 1992 and have one son together, Henry Lee Hopper. Her second marriage, to comedic actor French Stewart, took place on May 19, 1998, but eventually ended in divorce as well. LaNasa married actor Grant Show in 2012, and the couple has a daughter named Eloise McCue.
